Summer 2006 - Kolbe Special School Project  

To mark our 30th anniversary we set up a special fundraising project for Kolbe Special School. The aim is to raise funds to provide a minibus for the school.

December 2005 - Christmas Appeal  

In a departure from our usual Christmas Food Appeal, this year Portlaoise Lions Club carried out a collection & bag packing at both Tesco & Dunnes Stores supermarkets in Portlaoise this year.

This enabled us to give out over 100 Tesco shopping vouchers to families in need throughout our community. This success is only due to all of our hard working volunteers from various clubs and associations from Portlaoise.


 
May/June 2005 - Football Update  

 

Congratulations to Richard McSweeney, who has been appointed Youth Football District Officer.


Richard has put a lot of hard work into youth football over the years, particularly in Portlaoise area.We wish him well in his new post.

Also congratulations to the Portlaoise Youth Football Team who beat Crusaders from Belfast to reach the final of this competition, coached of course by Richard.



 
Portlaoise Lions Youth Award Winner 2005  

 



This years winner of the Portlaoise Lions Club Youth Award is Ciara Moran, a student in Brigidine Convent, Mountrath.


The purpose of this award is to celebrate the contribution of young people to their community.


Ciara will be going to Italy for 3 weeks with other international winners as part of her prize.

Congratulations Ciara!

 
May 2005 - Cycle Rally  

Two of our Lions are seen here feeding the hungry at a very successful annual cycle rally.

Funds raised go to the various school involved & The Scouts.



 

May 2005 - Spectacles Collection  



Our Sight First project is ongoing all of the time.

This picture shows approx. 1,000 spectacles that the Portlaoise Lions collected and sent for distribution in India.

April 2005  

Our Annual Book Sale which took place over two weekends in April was a great success with over €2,000 being raised in support of local causes. We wish to thank all of you for your generous support.
