Soccer Camp 2003

Portlaoise Soccer club in association with the Portlaoise Lions Club ran a very successful soccer camp over the Halloween holiday period.

A total of 48 children took part in the four-day event ranging in ages from 6 to 11 years. The coaches for the camp were provided by the Portlaoise Soccer club and were as follows: Cian Doyle (FAI level one ), Brendan Fingleton (FAI Level 0) and Sylvia Gee (FAI Level one and Irish international player). The director of the camp was Richard Mc Sweeney who is also a member of the Portlaoise Soccer Club.

The camp was held on the new Astro Turf pitches in Rossleighan Park with the weather being dry but cold for the period.

Lions Club president, Jonathan Shaw paid a visit to the camp and was thrilled by the whole event. Being the first Halloween camp organised by the Portlaoise Soccer Club, it was a joy to watch all the children enjoying themselves so much.

Soccer camp director, Richard Mc Sweeney thanked President Jonathan Shaw and the members of the Lions Club for their vision and generosity in making the event come true.
